Netflix has announced the release of a bold new docuseries, Glitter & Grit: The Debbie Harry Story, spotlighting the legendary frontwoman of Blondie and one of music’s most enduring icons. Slated to premiere globally on January 15, 2026, the five-part series will trace Harry’s extraordinary journey from underground punk clubs to global stardom—offering fans an unprecedented glimpse into her world.
At 79, Debbie Harry remains as relevant, stylish, and fearless as ever. Known not just for her hypnotic voice and daring style but for being a trailblazer in a male-dominated industry, Harry’s life has never been told with such depth and authenticity—until now.
Directed by award-winning filmmaker Elena Moretti (Soundtrack of Change), the series is described as an “intimate, unapologetic portrait” of the punk-pop icon. Featuring never-before-seen footage, vintage interviews, handwritten lyrics, and personal home videos, Glitter & Grit promises to illuminate the artistry and vulnerability behind the public persona.
“Debbie redefined what it meant to be a frontwoman,” said Moretti. “She was always more than the blonde bombshell—she was a poet, a rebel, and a visionary artist. This series explores the full spectrum of who she is.”
Each episode explores a distinct era of Harry’s life and career—from her early days navigating New York’s gritty downtown scene to Blondie’s rise with genre-defying hits like “Atomic,” “Rapture,” and “Dreaming.” It also dives into her personal struggles, creative rebirths, and her role as a cultural force influencing generations of artists.
The series includes new interviews with Blondie bandmates Chris Stein, Clem Burke, and longtime collaborators, as well as cultural icons like Gwen Stefani, Lady Gaga, Iggy Pop, and Vivienne Westwood—all paying tribute to Harry’s lasting influence on music, fashion, and feminism.
Netflix has already dropped a striking teaser trailer, blending Super 8 footage of Blondie at CBGB with slow-motion shots of a reflective Harry in modern-day New York. “You can’t fake fearlessness,” she says in a voiceover. “You either walk through fire or you don’t.”
Early buzz from industry insiders calls the series “essential viewing” and “a love letter to the underground spirit of New York and the woman who ruled it with style and soul.”
Glitter & Grit doesn’t just revisit Debbie Harry’s past—it reintroduces her legacy to a new generation ready to rediscover the spark that lit up punk, pop, and everything in between.
Streaming exclusively on Netflix, January 15, 2026.
