In a move few saw coming but many are now eagerly anticipating, Nickelback and The Offspring—two of rock’s most enduring and widely recognized bands—have announced a joint album slated for release in early 2025. The project, tentatively titled “Collide and Conquer”, marks the first-ever studio collaboration between the Canadian post-grunge juggernauts and the California-bred punk rock veterans.
The announcement dropped this week via a joint video posted to both bands’ social media accounts, showing them jamming in a studio together, laughing, and teasing riffs from what appear to be new songs. Fans erupted with excitement—and curiosity—at the blending of two vastly different yet equally iconic sounds.
Speaking about the project, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger said, “We’ve played the same festivals, we’ve crossed paths for years, and the energy has always been there. This album just felt inevitable.” The Offspring’s Dexter Holland echoed the sentiment, adding, “It’s not about compromise—it’s about amplification. We brought our loudest, rawest selves into this, and it clicked.”
Collide and Conquer will feature 12 all-new tracks that fuse Nickelback’s polished, anthemic rock with The Offspring’s fast, punk-infused energy. Early studio reports suggest an eclectic mix of styles—from blistering punk-rock choruses and power riffs to introspective ballads and politically-charged lyrics. Both bands are expected to trade vocals and instrumentation throughout the record, making it a true fusion rather than a split album.
Longtime producer Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Shinedown) has signed on to oversee production alongside Joey Moi, known for shaping some of Nickelback’s biggest hits. The first single, “Burn It All Down,” is expected to debut in November 2024, accompanied by a high-energy music video filmed across Los Angeles and Toronto.
In addition to the album, a co-headlining world tour is in the works for summer 2025, with a setlist that will include collaborative tracks, deep cuts, and fan-favorite hits from both bands’ catalogs. Tickets are expected to go on sale shortly after the release of the first single.
While critics have often debated both bands’ places in the rock canon, their global fanbases remain loyal and passionate. This collaboration, rather than playing it safe, feels like a bold statement of unity and longevity—two bands embracing their identities and turning up the volume together.
As Dexter Holland put it best: “We’re not trying to prove anything. We’re just making loud, unapologetic rock—and having a hell of a time doing it.”
Brace yourselves: Collide and Conquer drops in early 2025—and it’s coming in loud.
