Status Quo Announce New Album Backbone & Beyond — A Bold Return to Form

Legendary British rockers Status Quo have officially announced their long-awaited return with a brand-new studio album titled Backbone & Beyond, set for release on October 18, 2025 via earMUSIC. This marks the band’s first full-length release of original material in six years, following the success of 2019’s Backbone, and signals a fresh chapter for one of the UK’s most enduring rock institutions.

Fronted by the ever-charismatic Francis Rossi, Status Quo’s new album promises a dynamic blend of the band’s signature boogie-rock sound with a modern edge. Backbone & Beyond will feature 12 new tracks, described by Rossi as “raw, honest, and full of life,” capturing the spirit of a band that continues to evolve while staying true to its roots.

“We’re not just reliving the past,” Rossi said in a livestream announcement. “This album is about moving forward — for us, for the fans, and for what Quo represents. There’s grit, groove, and a lot of soul in these songs.”

The first single, “Rollin’ On Again”, is set to drop on August 16, accompanied by an official music video and special limited-edition vinyl pressing. Early listening sessions hint at a powerful, riff-driven anthem that nods to the band’s classic era while embracing polished, contemporary production.

The current lineup features Rossi on vocals and lead guitar, alongside longtime bassist John ‘Rhino’ Edwards, keyboardist Andy Bown, drummer Leon Cave, and rhythm guitarist Richie Malone, who has seamlessly carried the torch since the passing of co-founder Rick Parfitt in 2016. This is the first album where the band has fully stepped into its new configuration, and according to Rossi, “it finally feels like our band again.”

In addition to the album, Status Quo has announced an extensive 2026 world tour, kicking off in the UK next spring before heading across Europe, Australia, and Asia. The Backbone & Beyond Tour will celebrate both new material and the band’s unmatched catalog of hits, from “Rockin’ All Over the World” to “Down Down” and beyond. Pre-sale tickets go live this September, with VIP fan experiences available.

With over 100 million records sold, 60+ UK chart hits, and a live legacy spanning six decades, Status Quo continues to prove that rock ’n’ roll is alive, well, and ageless.

Backbone & Beyond is more than a comeback — it’s a declaration. The Quo still has something to say. And they’re saying it louder than ever.
