Billy Idol Announces New Album with Son Willem in Groundbreaking Family Collaboration

Rock legend Billy Idol is returning to the spotlight with a powerful new project—and this time, he’s not going it alone. The “White Wedding” and “Rebel Yell” icon has announced the upcoming release of a new studio album in collaboration with his son, Willem Wolfe Broad, marking the first time the father and son have worked together professionally on such a scale. The album, tentatively titled “Bloodlines”, is expected to drop in late 2025 and promises to blend the classic edge of Idol’s punk and rock roots with the avant-garde flair of Willem’s modern musical sensibilities.

Willem, an established artist in his own right, is a member of the experimental noise-punk band FIM, which has gained a cult following in the Los Angeles underground scene. Known for his gritty production style, raw vocals, and genre-defying sound, Willem brings a fresh dynamic to the project—one that Idol says helped “reignite his creative flame.”

“We didn’t want to just make another Billy Idol record,” the elder Idol explained in a statement. “We wanted to tell a story, to explore the generational pull of music and what it means to create something real with your own flesh and blood. Willem brings an edge I haven’t tapped into in decades.”

The album was written and recorded over the past year between London, Los Angeles, and Joshua Tree, with production overseen by acclaimed producer Butch Vig (Nirvana, Garbage). According to insiders, “Bloodlines” will feature 12 tracks, including hard-hitting rock anthems, introspective acoustic ballads, and experimental compositions that push the boundaries of Idol’s traditional sound.

The lead single, “Electric Veins,” is set for release in August and reportedly features both Billy and Willem trading vocals over a thunderous guitar riff layered with industrial beats—drawing comparisons to Nine Inch Nails and early Marilyn Manson, with the anthemic hooks that defined Idol’s career.

In addition to the album, a behind-the-scenes documentary titled “Father. Son. Fire.” will premiere on Netflix this fall, offering an intimate look into their creative process and the personal journey of building a musical bridge between two generations. The documentary will include interviews, in-studio footage, and rare glimpses into their family history.

Willem commented on the collaboration: “It’s surreal, but also natural. We’ve always shared a love for music. Now we’ve turned that into something tangible—something that speaks to both who we are and who we’ve become.”

With “Bloodlines”, Billy Idol is not only redefining his legacy—he’s expanding it, ushering in a new era where rock runs in the family.
