Netflix is turning up the volume with its latest music documentary series, this time shining the spotlight on rock icon Bret Michaels—the charismatic frontman of the legendary glam metal band Poison. The series, tentatively titled “Every Rose: The Bret Michaels Story”, is scheduled for release in late 2025 and promises an in-depth look at one of rock ‘n’ roll’s most enduring and resilient figures.
Bret Michaels first rose to fame in the 1980s as the lead vocalist of Poison, a band that dominated the glam metal scene with hits like “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” “Nothin’ But a Good Time,” and “Talk Dirty to Me.” With over 45 million albums sold worldwide and a reputation for high-energy live shows, Poison became a staple of the MTV generation—and Michaels, its fearless face and voice.
The Netflix series will go far beyond the stage persona, offering fans and newcomers alike an intimate look at Bret’s personal life, artistic evolution, and survival through both fame and adversity. From the chaos of the ’80s Sunset Strip scene to navigating life-threatening health challenges, the documentary will chronicle the highs and lows of a man who never stopped fighting to do what he loves.
Through exclusive interviews, archival concert footage, and never-before-seen behind-the-scenes clips, “Every Rose” will explore Michaels’ early days in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, his rise to superstardom, and the trials that followed—including his battles with diabetes, a brain hemorrhage in 2010, and his near-fatal heart surgery. Despite the setbacks, Michaels continued to perform, write, and tour with unrelenting passion.
Bret Michaels himself is actively involved in the production, contributing personal insights, home video footage, and commentary. In a press release, he shared:
“This is more than a rock doc—it’s about life, survival, and finding your purpose through the noise. I’ve lived every lyric I’ve written, and this series tells the full story.”
The series also highlights his success outside of music, including his television career on shows like Rock of Love, his entrepreneurial ventures, and decades of work in philanthropy—especially his dedication to diabetes awareness and military support charities.
Every Rose: The Bret Michaels Story is set to appeal not only to rock fans but to anyone inspired by stories of determination, reinvention, and authenticity. With its mix of nostalgia, grit, and raw emotion, the series is poised to be one of the most talked-about music documentaries of the year.
The official trailer is expected to drop in the coming months, with global streaming available on Netflix by winter 2025.
