Ashley Young’s injury has been updated by an injury expert ahead of Everton’s match against Burnley.
According to Ben Dinnery, Everton defender Ashley Young is an early doubt for Saturday’s Premier League match against Burnley at Turf Moor.
The Injury Expert revealed on his Premier Injuries X account (11 December) that there is presently no clear return date for the Toffees’ ever-present, with his return status placed at 25% for Saturday (16 December).
Young only lasted 41 minutes in Everton’s 2-0 win over Chelsea on Sunday (10 December) due to what appeared to be a pulled muscle, posting on social media after the game that he hoped the injury wasn’t too serious.
Most experts and supporters predicted relegation for this team before the first ball was kicked this season, yet Dyche has managed to build a team capable of routinely picking up results and climbing the Premier League table.
Sunday’s triumph at Chelsea, coming on the heels of a 3-0 win over Newcastle, demonstrates Dyche’s side’s remarkable unity, camaraderie, and spirit right now, and Young has been essential to that form.
While the Toffees veteran has faced criticism for some poor performances in recent weeks, his experience and leadership are vital to the team in the dressing room.
Dyche will not want to lose Young just now, given the club’s recent record, but he does have a good deputy in Nathan Patterson who is ready to come in when needed.
Micah Richards of Everton has asked Gareth Southgate to call up one uncapped player following a “outstanding” performance against Chelsea.
