Celtic are interested in signing ‘talented’ 23-year-old Premier League player

With Brendan Rodgers looking to add quality to his Celtic squad in January, a report has claimed that the Hoops gaffer already has his eye on a player who could replace Joe Hart.

The Daily Record reports this morning that Bournemouth goalkeeper, Will Dennis, is on the Hoops radar as Brendan Rodgers looks for an upgrade in the goalkeeping department.

Dennis is currently on loan at Kilmarnock until the end of the season.

The report says, “Rangers and Celtic are both keeping close tabs on on-loan Kilmarnock keeper Will Dennis.

“The scouting teams of both clubs have the impressive 23-year-old on their radar. Dennis is currently on loan from Bournemouth but he is out of contract at the end of the season. It means he could move cross-border on a free come the summer.”

Dennis has played in every one of Kilmarnock’s domestic fixtures this season and was between the sticks in Killies’ two wins over Brendan Rodgers’ side this season in the Scottish Cup and the league. [Transfermarkt]

What Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has said about Celtic target

Eddie Howe was a massive fan of the 23-year-old when he was the manager of Bournemouth. Dennis signed with The Cherries as a 15-year-old in 2016 and Howe sanctioned a three-year contract extension four years later.

At the time, Howe said of the young goalkeeper [Daily Echo], “Will is another talented young goalkeeper we have on our books.

“He is someone that’s improved rapidly since he has been with us under the guidance of Neil Moss and Anthony White.

“He’s got really good mentors in front of him in Mark Travers and Aaron Ramsdale, who are both young.

“But I am sure he would have seen how they have approached and attacked their own development in the professional manner they have done.

“He would have looked at that and thought ‘I want a piece of that’ and he’s got the attributes to do it. He’s a lovely size, very good shot stopper and a good kicker, so the future is bright for him.”

Joe Hart‘s contract at Celtic expires at the end of this season and with no new contract extension in sight, it looks like Rodgers is looking to replace the treble-winning hero.

Hart has come under fire as his recent performances have been costly for Celtic in the league. Maybe now, Rodgers sees Dennis as the perfect player to come in and take over the mantle from a player who has been an excellent servant For Celtic over the past two seasons.
