Celtic transfer tracker as Harry Kewell exit deal ‘done’ while Mathias Kvistgaarden shoots up Danish power rankings

The fist-team coach at Parkhead has interest in his services and he looks likely to move on for pastures new.

CELTIC – LATEST NEWS FROM PARKHEAD

Harry Kewell’s Celtic exit is edging closer as per claims coming out of Australia.

The Parkhead coach joined the Premiership champions during Ange Postecoglou’s reign, and has stuck around for the Brendan Rodgers era 2.0. But Far-East reports have suggested Yokohama F. Marinos want him to replace fellow Aussie Kevin Muscat as manager after the former Rangers defender’s exit, and Rodgers has confirmed there is an interest in Kewell’s services.

It has been suggested by A-League producer Sacha Pisani that a deal to take Kewell from the Celtic backroom to leading man in the J League is “done”, with an assistant already picked. John Hutchinson – a fellow Australian who has been assistant manager at city rivals Yokohama FC, will return to Marinos as assistant. He was part of the club’s coaching staff coaching staff until Muscat arrived midway through 2021 and changes were made prior to 2022. Elsewhere, Midfielder Jung Ho-Yeon has again been linked with the Hoops

Gwangju FC boss Lee Jung-Hyo was asked about interest from Celtic in the South Korean midfielder, who was first rumoured to have interest from Glasgow in October. Yang Hyun-jun, Kwon and Oh are all recent examples of Korean shopping done by the champions recently but there’s a warning for Jung.

His gaffer told Donga: “Jung Ho-Yeon is currently in talks to advance to Europe from Gwangju, but still have a long way to go. If you go to Europe now, you are bound to end up in a clumsy situation. It is wise to prepare well like Cho Gue-sung (who signed for Midtjylland last summer) and choose the team and league well.”

Mathias Kvistgaarden is a striker target Celtic are claimed to have in their sights and he is beginning to show his top tier potential, according to Danish reports. 3point.DK’s power rankings metric have him in the top tier of all SuperLig players, with “layer one” defined as “They are important pieces for the team, and have delivered at a consistently high level.”

On the man himself, it reads: “Has risen from roughly making many headless finishes to shooting wisely and seasoning it with nice assist play for his teammates.”

Bojan Miovski is claimed to be on the Celtic agenda too after showing his striker prowess at Aberdeen. But they aren’t the only ones after him, as Southampton tale the North Macedonian international after another long-term injury to Ross Stewart.
