Coroner Announce First New Album in Over 30 Years: Unbreakable

Swiss technical thrash metal legends Coroner have officially announced the release of their long-awaited new album, Unbreakable, set to arrive in early 2026 via Century Media Records. This marks the band’s first full-length studio release in over three decades, and fans around the world are celebrating the long-overdue return of one of metal’s most unique and forward-thinking acts.

Formed in Zurich in the mid-1980s, Coroner quickly gained cult status for their razor-sharp musicianship, dark lyrical themes, and progressive approach to thrash metal. Albums like No More Color (1989) and Mental Vortex (1991) pushed the boundaries of the genre with complex time signatures, jazz-influenced guitar work, and philosophical lyrics. Their final album before disbanding, Grin (1993), ventured further into industrial and groove-laden territory, cementing Coroner’s legacy as fearless sonic explorers.

Now, after more than 30 years, the trio returns with Unbreakable — an album described by the band as “a reflection of our roots, but not a repetition of the past.”

In a press statement, Coroner said:

Unbreakable represents where we are now — matured, but still intense. It took time to shape this music into something we felt proud of. There are traces of our early sound, but also new textures and ideas. We didn’t want nostalgia — we wanted evolution.”

The album was recorded across multiple studios in Switzerland and Germany throughout 2024 and 2025. Longtime members Ron Broder (a.k.a. Ron Royce) on vocals and bass, and Tommy Vetterli (a.k.a. Tommy T. Baron) on guitar, lead the creative charge, joined by drummer Diego Rapacchietti, who has been with the band since 2014.

Unbreakable is said to blend the technical precision of their classic era with fresh sonic experimentation, offering both aggression and atmosphere. The first single, titled “Divided We Crawl,” is scheduled for release in late September 2025, along with a cinematic music video.

To support the album, Coroner will embark on a major international tour beginning in mid-2026, including headline shows and festival appearances across Europe, North America, and South America.

The announcement of Unbreakable marks a significant moment not only for Coroner but for the broader metal scene. As a band that has always defied categorization, their return is more than just a nostalgic reunion — it’s a declaration of vitality and relevance.

For fans old and new, 2026 promises to be a powerful new chapter in Coroner’s singular legacy.
