‘Exceptional’… Jurgen Klopp says he thinks one man at Celtic is truly brilliant
Jurgen Klopp has completely transformed Liverpool since arriving at Anfield.
However, while Klopp has worked wonders on Merseyside, we also shouldn’t forget how good of a job his predecessor did.
Brendan Rodgers very nearly led the Reds to their first Premier League title back in 2014, and while it all went pear-shaped in the end, he did a great job with the Reds for a sustained period.
Rodgers is, of course, now the manager of Celtic, and speaking on the Sky Sports Football Podcast, Jurgen Klopp has been discussing the Northern Irishman, labelling him as an exceptional coach after his time at Liverpool.
Rodgers labelled exceptional
Klopp spoke about his Liverpool predecessor.
“I knew we had to turn things around, because the way I wanted to play was different to the way Brendan wanted to play, and Brendan is an exceptional coach, but it was clear that the new fresh air would make an impact,” Klopp said.
Top manager
Say what you will about Rodgers’ time at Liverpool, but he’s proven since that he’s a top manager.
He led Celtic to countless trophies first time around, while he took Leicester to an FA Cup win while knocking on the door of the top four on two separate occasions.
MORE CELTIC STORIES
Rodgers may not be the flavour of the month at the moment, but his CV over the past decade is as impressive as most other managers at the top level not named Jurgen Klopp or Pep Guardiola.
Unfortunately for Rodgers, his spell at Liverpool has been overshadowed by the fact that Klopp has been arguably the best manager the club has ever had, but, as the great man himself says, we shouldn’t discount the fact that Rodgers has been and is a fantastic manager who has done great things within the game himself.
If you’re receiving this praise from Jurgen Klopp, you must have something special about you.
