Foo Fighters have officially announced their highly anticipated new studio album, titled “Electric Skies,” slated for release in November 2025. Marking their 12th studio record, the album is expected to channel the band’s signature energy while introducing a renewed emotional depth, born from years of loss, reinvention, and defiance.
Following the devastating loss of longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2022, the band reemerged in 2023 with But Here We Are, an introspective and deeply personal record that confronted grief head-on. Now, Electric Skies promises a sonic shift—louder, bolder, and more defiant. Frontman Dave Grohl described the new project as “a resurrection more than a return,” adding, “This is not about starting over. This is about rising again. Loud, proud, and loud again.”
A teaser video posted to the Foo Fighters’ official social media accounts features gritty studio shots, crashing thunder, and fierce new guitar riffs—hinting at the raw power behind the upcoming tracks. Fans can expect the Foo Fighters at full throttle, fusing their classic rock anthems with modern, moody textures.
This will also be the band’s first full-length album with Josh Freese as official drummer. Freese, who stepped in during their 2023–2024 tour, is now a permanent fixture and has already been praised for reigniting the band’s studio chemistry. “Josh brings an insane energy,” Grohl said. “He’s got that fire. That edge. We felt it in the studio every day.”
Although the full tracklist remains under wraps, sources close to the production have described the songs as “anthemic and unapologetically heavy,” with influences ranging from their Wasting Light era to their earlier, more aggressive material. There are also whispers of major collaborations—including St. Vincent, Tom Morello, and a surprise feature from a yet-to-be-named pop icon.
In addition to the album release, the Foo Fighters are reportedly gearing up for a massive 2026 world tour, with dates across North America and Europe expected to be announced soon after the album drops. Their shows will blend the ferocity of new material with timeless crowd-pleasers like “Everlong,” “My Hero,” and “Best of You.”
With Electric Skies, Foo Fighters are not just adding to their catalog—they’re reigniting their legacy. This isn’t a band clinging to past glory; it’s a band roaring into the future, louder and more alive than ever. For rock fans, November can’t come soon enough.
