The WWE is once again at the center of controversy, this time involving one of music’s most iconic families. Kelly Osbourne has publicly slammed WWE superstar Becky Lynch and the organization itself after Lynch mocked Birmingham and the late Ozzy Osbourne during this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.
The incident unfolded when Becky Lynch, in a heated promo segment, dismissed the idea of wrestling in Birmingham, taking a jab that fans quickly labeled as deeply offensive. “I am not wrestling in Birmingham. Yeah, the only good thing that came out of here died a month ago. But in fairness to Ozzy Osbourne, he had the good sense to move to L.A., a proper city. Because if I lived in Birmingham I’d die, too,” Lynch declared to loud boos from the arena.
For many fans, the remarks went beyond standard WWE “heel” behavior and into the realm of blatant disrespect—particularly since Ozzy Osbourne, Birmingham’s most famous son, passed away just last month.
Kelly Osbourne wasted no time responding. Taking to Instagram, she posted a scathing message aimed directly at Lynch:
“Becky Lynch you are a disrespectful dirtbag! Birmingham will not piss on you if you were on fire. #BirminghamForever. Shame on the WWE for allowing such a thing to be said about my father and his home.”
Her words immediately went viral, sparking thousands of reactions from both WWE fans and longtime Osbourne supporters. Many applauded Kelly for standing up for her father’s legacy, while others debated whether WWE’s controversial approach to storytelling had finally gone too far.
The backlash raises questions about how far WWE should be willing to go for entertainment. While the company has long thrived on pushing boundaries and creating shocking moments, involving a recently deceased music legend in a storyline has struck many as tasteless.
Fans in Birmingham, already protective of Ozzy’s legacy as the frontman of Black Sabbath and one of the city’s proudest exports, have been especially vocal. Social media has been flooded with posts calling for WWE to issue an apology and for Becky Lynch to clarify her remarks.
As of now, neither WWE nor Becky Lynch has released an official statement addressing Kelly Osbourne’s comments. Still, the incident has generated a firestorm of debate, ensuring that the fallout will continue well beyond this week’s Raw.
What was meant as a cutting promo line has now escalated into a full-blown cultural clash between the world of professional wrestling and one of rock’s most legendary families. Whether WWE chooses to walk it back or double down, one thing is clear: the Osbourne legacy is not one to be disrespected without consequences.
