Mercedes-Benz to Erect $2.5 Million Statue Honoring Lewis Hamilton at Brackley Headquarters

In a move that cements his legacy as one of the greatest drivers in Formula 1 history, Mercedes-Benz has officially approved a $2.5 million statue of Sir Lewis Hamilton to be erected outside the company’s Brackley headquarters. The monument is set to commemorate his extraordinary achievements and lasting impact during his time with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team.

The life-sized bronze statue will capture Hamilton in full racing gear, fist raised in victory — a familiar sight for fans during his historic run of seven world titles, six of which he won under the Mercedes banner. The project is already underway and expected to be unveiled in early 2026 with a special ceremony attended by racing icons, engineers, and members of the Hamilton family.

“This isn’t just a statue,” said Toto Wolff, Team Principal and CEO of Mercedes-AMG Petronas. “It’s a tribute to a once-in-a-generation talent who changed the face of motorsport and carried the Mercedes star to unimaginable heights. Lewis redefined excellence — on the track and beyond.”

Hamilton, now a global ambassador for social justice, sustainability, and diversity in racing, responded to the news with humility.

“I’m deeply honored,” Hamilton shared in a brief statement. “Mercedes has been my family for over a decade, and together we made history. I hope this statue stands not just as a celebration of wins, but as a symbol of pushing boundaries and inspiring future generations.”

The Brackley site has long been the nerve center of Mercedes’ F1 operations, and the statue is expected to become a landmark for visitors, fans, and future team members. Designed by renowned sculptor Anya Gallagher, the artwork will incorporate subtle references to Hamilton’s advocacy work — including an etched inscription of his famous quote: “Still I Rise.”

The decision comes after a public petition, supported by over 500,000 fans, urged Mercedes to permanently honor Hamilton’s impact on the sport and the team. It also reflects a growing recognition of athletes not only for their competitive accolades but for their cultural influence.

With 103 Grand Prix victories and counting, Hamilton’s record speaks for itself. But this statue will tell a deeper story — of resilience, brilliance, and the legacy of a driver who became a movement.

As the motorsport world looks ahead, Mercedes has made it clear: Lewis Hamilton will always be part of their DNA.
