Netflix has announced a new original documentary series centered on Alissa White-Gluz, the powerhouse vocalist best known as the frontwoman of Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy. Titled “Alissa: Voice of Rebellion,” the series promises to deliver an unfiltered, emotionally charged portrait of one of metal’s most dynamic and outspoken figures.
Set to premiere globally in early 2026, the multi-part docuseries will chart White-Gluz’s journey from her early days in Canada’s underground metal scene to the global stages of Wacken and Hellfest, where she commands crowds in the tens of thousands. Known for her formidable growls, soaring clean vocals, and fierce stage presence, White-Gluz has redefined the role of women in extreme metal while staying true to her values and activism.
Netflix producers say the series will not only explore her musical achievements but also delve into the personal battles and beliefs that have shaped her. Themes of identity, feminism, veganism, and perseverance will be at the core of the story. From her rise with The Agonist to her groundbreaking entrance into Arch Enemy in 2014, “Voice of Rebellion” will feature rare behind-the-scenes footage, concert performances, and candid interviews with fellow musicians, producers, and family members.
In a statement released by Netflix, White-Gluz shared her thoughts on the project:
“This isn’t just a documentary about music — it’s about surviving in a world that tries to silence you, and finding your voice anyway. I’ve always tried to live authentically, and I’m excited (and a little nervous!) to share my story with the world.”
The series is being directed by award-winning filmmaker Marie Dumont, known for her raw, character-driven storytelling in music documentaries. Dumont says the project was born from a single backstage interview with White-Gluz in 2022, which revealed a depth and complexity that she felt the world needed to see.
“Alissa is more than just a metal singer — she’s a fighter, an artist, and a voice for change,” Dumont said. “Her story is one of courage and transformation, and it speaks to anyone who has ever felt like they didn’t belong.”
With the heavy metal scene gaining broader visibility through recent documentaries and streaming releases, “Voice of Rebellion” is expected to attract both die-hard fans and newcomers intrigued by White-Gluz’s fearless persona and message-driven music.
As anticipation builds, one thing is clear: Alissa White-Gluz is ready to roar not just on stage, but on screens worldwide.
