Netflix to Release Explosive Documentary Series on Nikki Sixx

Netflix is turning up the volume with the announcement of a brand-new documentary series centered on legendary Mötley Crüe bassist and songwriter Nikki Sixx. Titled Sixx: The Untold Confessions, the multi-part docuseries is set to debut in mid-2026 and will offer fans an unfiltered, deeply personal look at the man behind one of the most notorious rock bands in history.

The series promises to go beyond the glam and chaos to explore Nikki Sixx’s turbulent journey—from addiction and near-death experiences to redemption, fatherhood, and creative rebirth. Drawing from Sixx’s bestselling memoir The Heroin Diaries, as well as exclusive interviews, unreleased footage, and candid commentary from bandmates, friends, and critics, Sixx: The Untold Confessions aims to capture the full scope of his wild and inspiring life.

“Nikki’s story isn’t just sex, drugs, and rock & roll,” said Netflix in a press statement. “It’s a story of survival, reinvention, and the cost of chasing fame at all costs. It’s brutally honest—and that’s exactly what fans deserve.”

Nikki Sixx, born Frank Feranna Jr., co-founded Mötley Crüe in 1981 and became one of the most notorious figures in rock history. Known for writing most of the band’s biggest hits—from “Kickstart My Heart” to “Dr. Feelgood”—Sixx quickly became both a creative powerhouse and a symbol of rock excess. But behind the eyeliner and anthems was a man battling addiction, trauma, and a relentless search for identity.

The series will cover his rise through the Los Angeles music scene, the formation of Mötley Crüe, and the band’s wild heyday in the ’80s and ’90s. It will also explore his near-fatal heroin overdose in 1987, his recovery journey, and his reinvention as a family man, author, and entrepreneur in recent years. Fans can also expect behind-the-scenes stories from the band’s reunion, farewell tours, and his life beyond the stage—including his work with Sixx:A.M. and his passion for photography and philanthropy.

Nikki Sixx, who is actively involved in the series as both a producer and on-screen narrator, shared his excitement about the project:
“I’ve lived a thousand lives in one. This is about more than the chaos—it’s about the why behind it all. And I’m finally ready to tell it without holding back.”

With Netflix’s track record of hit music documentaries and a larger-than-life subject like Sixx, The Untold Confessions is poised to become essential viewing for music fans. One thing’s for sure—this isn’t just another rock doc. This is Nikki Sixx, uncensored.
