Netflix to Release Groundbreaking Documentary Series on Metal Queen Doro Pesch

Netflix is turning up the volume with the announcement of a brand-new documentary series spotlighting none other than the Queen of Heavy Metal herself — Doro Pesch. The multi-part series, titled “Doro: True as Steel”, is set to premiere globally later this year, offering an intimate and unfiltered look at the life, career, and legacy of one of the most enduring and beloved figures in rock music.

Known for her powerful voice, trailblazing presence, and unwavering commitment to metal, Doro Pesch rose to prominence in the 1980s as the frontwoman of Warlock before launching a wildly successful solo career. Over four decades later, she remains an icon in a genre long dominated by men — a symbol of strength, perseverance, and authenticity.

The Netflix series promises to go far beyond the stage lights and leather jackets, taking viewers deep into Doro’s world with never-before-seen footage, candid interviews, and personal reflections from the artist herself, as well as testimonials from fellow rock legends, including members of Judas Priest, Motörhead, and Metallica.

“This documentary is a dream come true,” Doro said in a press statement. “It’s my life, my journey, my love letter to the fans who have stood by me all these years. We laughed, we cried, we rocked — and now we get to share that story with the world.”

The series is produced by Pulse Films in partnership with Netflix, and directed by Sophie Muller, known for her visually rich work in the music documentary space. From Doro’s humble beginnings in Düsseldorf, Germany, to her historic performances at Wacken Open Air and her 2023 tour of South America, the series promises a raw and emotional portrait of an artist who never gave up.

A major highlight includes exclusive backstage moments from Doro’s landmark 40th anniversary show, and rare footage of her time in the studio recording with late greats like Lemmy Kilmister.

Netflix’s head of music documentaries, Carlos Estevez, described the series as “a celebration not just of Doro’s music, but of her spirit — defiant, loyal, and larger than life. She’s a pioneer, a fighter, and a legend.”

“Doro: True as Steel” is expected to drop in October 2025, coinciding with the start of her upcoming world tour. With her fierce charisma, timeless anthems, and an ever-growing fan base, Doro’s story is one that was made for the screen — and Netflix is ready to bring it to the masses.
