Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark Announce Launch of Disney-Inspired Themed Park

Iconic synth-pop duo Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) have announced a bold and unexpected venture: the creation of a fully immersive, Disney-style theme park inspired by their music and legacy. Titled Electric Dreams: The OMD Experience, the park will fuse nostalgic futurism with interactive storytelling, giving fans a one-of-a-kind journey through the band’s groundbreaking career.

Set to open in 2026 in Wirral, Merseyside — close to the band’s Liverpool roots — the park will be divided into themed zones, each inspired by key albums, songs, and visual elements from OMD’s four-decade history. Founding members Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys revealed the project at a press conference, calling it “a living monument to sound, vision, and imagination.”

Among the park’s signature attractions will be the Enola Gay Flight Experience, a high-tech VR ride offering an abstract, emotional aerial journey soundtracked by OMD’s most iconic track. Another major draw is Souvenir Boulevard, a retro-futuristic promenade lined with neon lights, vintage memorabilia, and synth-themed merchandise. The Architecture & Morality Pavilion, named after the band’s acclaimed 1981 album, will blend immersive visuals with ambient soundscapes and art installations for a more introspective experience.

“This isn’t just a theme park,” McCluskey explained. “It’s part celebration, part reflection — a place where music, memory, and emotion collide. Our goal is to give people something timeless, much like the music we’ve always strived to create.”

The park will also feature live performances, interactive exhibits, and a dedicated music tech zone exploring the history and future of electronic sound. Sustainability is central to the design, with plans to operate on renewable energy sources, minimize waste, and integrate nature throughout the park.

The announcement has sparked widespread excitement across social media, with early concept art drawing praise for its unique blend of synth-wave aesthetics and modern design. While music-themed attractions aren’t new, few artists have attempted something of this scale. Analysts compare the venture to successful projects like ABBA’s virtual concert experience, highlighting the growing appetite for immersive fan environments.

Humphreys reflected on the project’s ambition: “OMD has always been about innovation — in sound, in vision, in spirit. Electric Dreams is the next logical step in that journey.”

Tickets for Electric Dreams are expected to go on sale in early 2026, with exclusive pre-sale access available to official fan club members. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or new to the band’s sonic world, this promises to be an unforgettable experience where music truly comes to life.
