Just days after Black Sabbath’s historic farewell concert at Villa Park, Birmingham, Sharon Osbourne has made a major life announcement of her own—she is officially retiring from the music industry.
The longtime manager, television personality, and matriarch of the Osbourne family confirmed her decision in an emotional statement to fans and the media on Sunday. “I’m done,” Sharon said simply. “It’s been decades of my life—of our lives—but now it’s time for something new. I’ve devoted everything I had to music, to Ozzy, to the business. But this chapter has come to an end.”
The announcement comes in the wake of Ozzy Osbourne’s final live performance with Black Sabbath, aptly titled Back to the Beginning, which took place in the band’s hometown of Birmingham on July 5. The show marked the culmination of a career that helped define heavy metal for more than half a century—and Sharon was instrumental in every step of it.
Sharon’s decision was not entirely unexpected by those close to the couple. The past few years have seen both Osbournes battling health issues and stepping back from the spotlight. Ozzy’s Parkinson’s diagnosis and spinal surgeries have made performing increasingly difficult, and Sharon has been open about the emotional and physical toll of managing her husband’s career through it all.
Still, her formal retirement marks the end of an era—not just for the Osbournes, but for the music industry at large. Sharon Osbourne has been a formidable force behind some of rock’s biggest moments. She played a critical role in launching Ozzfest, revolutionizing festival touring models in the late ‘90s and early 2000s, and she was instrumental in sustaining Ozzy’s solo success following his departure from Black Sabbath in 1979.
Over the years, she also became a global television figure—serving as a judge on The X Factor and America’s Got Talent, and starring in The Osbournes, the groundbreaking MTV reality series that redefined celebrity culture in the early 2000s.
Despite stepping away from music management, Sharon assured fans that she will continue engaging with her audience in other ways. “I’ll never stop speaking out, never stop sharing stories,” she said. “But the world of music management and production—that part of my life is done. And I’m proud of everything we built.”
As Ozzy closes the curtain on his performing career, Sharon is doing the same with hers behind the scenes. Together, they shaped a legacy that transformed not only metal—but modern music itself.
Fans may be saying goodbye to an era, but the Osbourne legacy will echo for generations.
