CONGRATULATIONS: Ons Jabeur announces birth of “tiny miracle” son Elyan

Ons Jabeur gave birth to her first child this week, the former world No. 2 announcing the arrival of son Elyan on Instagram alongside husband Karim.

“A tiny miracle, a lifetime of love 🤍” Jabeur wrote on Instagram on Tuesday. “Welcoming our baby boy, Elyan Kammoun 20/04/2026 ♾️ “

Jabeur first revealed her pregnancy back in November, having been off the court since retiring from the first round of Wimbledon in July.

“Took a little break to reset and recharge… Turns out, we’ve been planning the cutest comeback ever,” Jabeur wrote at the time. “The court will have to wait a little longer, because soon we’ll be welcoming our tiniest teammate.”

Congratulations poured in from her fellow players on Instagram, including comments from Paula Badosa, Belinda Bencic, and Billie Jean King.

“Can’t wait to meet him,” wrote Badosa.

The beloved three-time Grand Slam finalist has stayed close to the game through her maternity leave, launching a YouTube series featuring an interview with fellow former No. 2 Badosa.

Jabeur discussed hopes for a comeback and plans to “compete for a couple more years,” in an interview with Vogue Arabia in March.

“I want to give myself the time to see how my body will react,” Jabeur told Christine van Deemter in an interview for Arab Mother’s Day.

“I want him to be creative, to make jokes,” she added of her hopes for her son. “Most important is that he’s a good person and makes a change in the world.”

Jabeur has been a trailblazer for African and Arab tennis, winning a WTA 1000 title at the 2022 Mutua Madrid Open in addition to her three major finals.
