World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka put on a masterclass of power and efficiency under the lights at Arthur Ashe Stadium, needing just 53 minutes to storm past qualifier Polina Iatcenko 6-1, 6-1 in the second round of the US Open.
Sabalenka set the tempo early, overpowering her opponent with heavy groundstrokes, aggressive net approaches, and dominant serving. The top seed dropped only two games across the entire match, securing six total service breaks while landing 76% of her first serves and claiming 75% of those points.
Iatcenko, making her debut in the Flushing Meadows main draw, found brief moments to get on the scoreboard to warm applause from the New York crowd, but was unable to withstand Sabalenka’s overwhelming pace. Sabalenka raced through the opening set in just 24 minutes and carried that momentum seamlessly into the second to lock up the dominant win.
With her 15th consecutive win at the US Open secured, Sabalenka advances to the third round as she continues her quest for a third title in New York.
