Man Utd will “capitalize” by swooping for a £110 million pair of Everton players as fears of further punishment grow. Sadly, toffees
According to reports, Manchester United is waiting to sign Everton players Jarrod Branthwaite and Amadou Onana. This comes despite troubling new reports that the Toffees may have to sell up their prized assets during the January transfer window due to an approaching financial problem.
Due to their violation of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations, the struggling Merseysiders have lost ten points, further sinking the team into the relegation trap. Even though Sean Dyche’s team is only two points from safety, things could soon get much worse for Everton.
This is in the midst of reports that Leicester, Leeds, and Burnley are preparing a £300 million compensation action against the club after they were all demoted from the Premier League following the initial charges against the Merseyside team back in the 2020/21 season.
Everton was not given a sporting advantage, according to the Premier League’s statement, but worries that the three teams have a case have led to predictions that Everton may go bankrupt if it had to pay.
And according to Premier League regulations, they might receive an additional nine points in penalties if that were to occur.
It would leave Everton with a potentially unclear future and the threat of relegation in the longer term.
Seven players were mentioned in a report that surfaced over the weekend as potential candidates to leave Goodison Park as soon as the January window opened, should the worst come to pass.
And the Daily Express claims that Erik ten Hag is hoping to “capitalize” on Everton’s suffering, so two of them—Onana and Branthwaite—may find a new home at Manchester United right away.
Man Utd wants to sign Branthwaite and Onana.
Ten Hag has had difficulty finding the perfect balance in his midfield this season, as Sofyan Amrabat, a summer acquisition, has yet to show any signs of improvement and concerns over Casemiro’s future are growing.
Additionally, it’s reported that United will try to sign Belgium midfielder Onana as a substitute right away because the Brazilian star is reportedly interested in joining the Saudi Pro-League.
The Senegalese star, who arrived at Everton in the summer of 2022 for £33 million from Lille, has had a tremendous impact.
Onana, who is valued at around £60 million, is considered to be one of the best midfield players outside of the big six. His worth has nearly doubled since his transfer.
According to reports, Branthwaite, who plays center-half opposite James Tarkowski for the Toffees this season, is also a target for United. Dyche is apparently interested in signing Branthwaite.
Since Ruud van Nistelrooy, who coached the 21-year-old while he was on loan at PSV Eindhoven last season, saw his potential, the Red Devils have been following his development.
Presently thriving in the Premier League, the athlete just agreed to a new contract that would keep him at Goodison Park through 2027.
United is prepared to make two £110 million moves for Everton.
However, Everton has been forewarned to anticipate a 2024 struggle to keep him, with United purportedly at the top of the line.
The Red Devils plan to strengthen their central defensive alternatives in the upcoming season in light of rumors that Raphael Varane, another star, is also expected to be traded to Saudi Arabia.
They therefore have a strong four-person list of potential successors, with Branthwaite very much among them.
Despite the fact that the star has only made 20 Premier League matches to date, Everton values him at over £50 million.
United is allegedly quite interested in both players and is seriously exploring a potential bid for both, regardless of whether Everton is put into administration or not.
