After withdrawing from international service due to injury, Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana faces a race against time to be fit for the Everton match… while Erik ten Hag’s issues escalate.
Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana has returned to Manchester United after missing international duty due to injury.
Onana, 27, returned to his club after injuring himself during a World Cup qualifier against Mauritius.
The goalkeeper was forced off, and the national team has announced that he will miss their next encounter against Libya.
Man United will keep an eye on the summer signing ahead of their match against Everton on Sunday.
The former Inter Milan shot stopper was substituted late in his team’s 3-0 victory over Mauritius, but tests revealed that he had suffered an injury to one of his pelvic bones.
If Onana is ruled out, Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, who has yet to play for Erik Ten Hag’s side, could be called up to make his debut for the Red Devils.
Fans were originally concerned about the impact of Onana’s injury on United’s squad when they returned from the international break next week, but he is believed to be fit to face Everton next weekend, according to a report.
After suffering an adductor muscle complaint during Cameroon’s win over Mauritius, Onana added to Erik ten Hag’s long list of absentees.
His substitution instantly raised concerns among supporters that the No. 1 would be forced to miss the trip to Goodison Park, albeit an encouraging update has now been supplied.
According to sources, Onana’s setback was not serious, and he was removed as soon as he felt pain to avoid escalating the situation.
Cameroon return to World Cup qualifying action on Tuesday, and it is unclear whether the goalkeeper will be able to play again for his country.
