Jose Mourinho now gives his verdict on whether Arsenal can win the Premier League
Manager Jose Mourinho has been a deeply unpopular figure amongst Arsenal fans for years, and his latest comments will not have done anything to improve this relationship.
Mourinho has managed Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur amongst plenty of others over the years, and had a heated rivalry with Arsenal legend Arsene Wenger.
He is now managing Roma in Serie A, but has given his verdict on the Premier League title race, with Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool all competing at the top this season.
Jose Mourinho rates Arsenal’s Premier League title chances
Speaking to John Obi Mikel on The Obi One Podcast, Mourinho claimed that whilst he would not mind seeing Arsenal win their first title since 2004, he believes the only race is between Liverpool and Manchester City.
“I would say Man City 51 [percent], and Liverpool 49 [percent],” he stated of the Premier League title race.
The Presenter then replied: “No Arsenal?”
Mourinho then gave a negative response by stating: “Nah!”
The presenter then pointed out that: “The rivalry is still there,” for the Portuguese coach, after which, Mourinho explained his reasoning.
“It’s not the rivalry it is in the right moments. Rivalry apart, I would like them to win. Of course, Chelsea is not going to win. It is out of the question.

“Manchester United is not going to win it too. So it is between these three and out of these three I would like Arsenal to win it.
“But 51, 49. And I say 51, 49 because when the accumulation of matches are coming Man City has two teams.”
Is Jose Mourinho right about Arsenal’s title chances?

Despite what he has claimed about the rivalry, Arsenal are probably the team in the top six that Mourinho dislikes the most.
His reasoning for Arsenal not being in the race is that Mikel Arteta’s side do not have enough depth when compared to City, but The Gunners actually have a larger squad than the Champions.
Arsenal may add to their squad further in the January window, as they lack depth at the back, but right now they are top of the league, whilst Man City have just one win in their last six games.
Whether or not Arsenal end up winning the league in the end, it is likely that they will very much be in the mix at the end of the season, with extra defensive strength proving vital to their chances this season.
