Celtic expected to pay ‘around €7m’ for player if they take plunge – Transfer amount revealed

After Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers admitted he and the club are interested in buying Benfica loanee Paulo Bernardo, the Portuguese media now reacts to it.

Newspaper A Bola today features the coach’s quotes and brings a few details of what Celtic need to do to make the transfer permanent.

The newspaper recalls that the clubs never revealed how much the purchase could be done for, and A Bola now managed to find out it’s ‘around €7m’.

A Bola says that’s something very similar to the transfer of Jota, who was also loaned by Benfica to Celtic, who then paid €7.5m for him, leaving 30% of a future move to the Eagles.

Paulo Bernardo has three goals and two assists in 16 appearances for Celtic this season, and scored a goal in the Scottish Cup clash against Buckie Thistle on Sunday.

The midfielder is still confirming his place in Brendan Rodgers’ starting eleven, being in the team that started their last four league games, and it seems Celtic side made a good deal when agreeing another buying option for a fairly low amount.
