Juergen Klopp and Arne Slot are “quite different,” according to Mohamed Salah, who is also celebrating a new Premier League record.

Mohamed Salah set a new Premier League record for the most goals scored on the opening day of the season after netting Liverpool’s second in their 2-0 victory over Ipswich.

Liverpool struggled to find their rhythm in the first half at a lively Portman Road but came alive in the second half, overwhelming the newly promoted side. Diogo Jota broke the deadlock on the hour mark, and Salah added a second goal five minutes later, marking his ninth Premier League goal on an opening weekend—more than any other player in the league’s history.

After the match, Salah made some noteworthy remarks, acknowledging the differences under new manager Arne Slot following the end of Jurgen Klopp’s eight-year tenure at Anfield.

“It’s quite different because Jurgen was in charge of the team for eight years here at Liverpool,” Salah told TNT Sport. “He gave everything, and now we have a new manager and a new system. It’s an adjustment for all of us, so we need to adapt.

“We’re taking it step by step, especially since some players returned late, so we’re still learning his style of play and trying to enjoy the football.”

Reflecting on the match, Salah noted the challenges: “It was quite tough today, to be fair. The weather was really warm, and Ipswich is a strong team, so I’m glad we won. I’m always happy to make a difference for the team, but the most important thing is that we got the win. We just need to keep moving forward.”

Arne Slot downplayed the significance of Liverpool’s victory over Ipswich, emphasizing that it was merely the first step in his journey with the club.

“I think in every game, we have to focus on both our defense and our play with the ball,” Slot commented. “You saw last season how tight the games were. We need to ensure we’re ahead by three points, and that’s what we’re working towards.

“We know, but it’s normal for Liverpool to have a lot of quality players. Today’s match showed just how tough Premier League games can be, so we need strong individual performances alongside good team play to secure wins.”

When asked about Mohamed Salah’s importance to the team, Slot responded, “I don’t put much stock in one player; I believe in the team more than the individual. Mo can score his goals because of good runs and assists. He needs the team, but we also have other creative players who can change the game.”

With this victory at Ipswich, Slot became only the second Liverpool manager in the Premier League era to win his debut match, following Gerard Houllier in August 1998.
