Netflix Announces Slow Ride: The Foghat Legacy — A Rock Documentary Series Arriving in 2026
Netflix is gearing up to shine a long-overdue spotlight on one of classic rock’s most enduring and underrated bands with the release of Slow Ride: The Foghat Legacy, a documentary series set to premiere in 2026. The multi-part series will chart the rise, fall, and lasting impact of Foghat—a band that brought blues-boogie to the mainstream and lived life loud, fast, and unapologetically on the road.
Formed in 1971 by former members of the British blues band Savoy Brown—“Lonesome” Dave Peverett, Roger Earl, and Tony Stevens—Foghat quickly became known for their blistering guitar riffs, infectious rhythms, and relentless touring schedule. Their biggest hit, “Slow Ride,” remains a staple on classic rock radio, but their discography runs much deeper, marked by high-energy anthems like “Fool for the City” and gritty blues covers such as “I Just Want to Make Love to You.”
Netflix’s new documentary series promises to tell the full story: from smoky clubs and endless highways to platinum records and personal turmoil. Drawing on never-before-seen archival footage, rare photos, and fresh interviews with surviving members, family, collaborators, and fellow musicians, Slow Ride aims to capture the soul of a band that defined the spirit of working-class rock.
“Foghat weren’t chasing trends or playing for headlines—they were lifers,” said the series’ executive producer. “They believed in the power of live music, in the grind of the road, and in giving fans everything they had night after night. This series is a celebration of that grit, that soul, and that sound.”
The documentary will delve into the band’s early years in London, their explosive success in the U.S., and the challenges they faced—including lineup changes, critical neglect, and the tragic passing of lead singer Dave Peverett in 2000. Yet, through all the turbulence, Foghat never stopped. Drummer Roger Earl, the only constant member since day one, continues to tour under the Foghat banner, carrying their legacy into new generations.
In addition to tracing the band’s personal journey, the series will highlight Foghat’s influence on modern rock and their role in keeping blues-based rock alive during a decade dominated by disco, punk, and pop.
Slow Ride: The Foghat Legacy is set to be a heartfelt, hard-rocking tribute to a band that never fit the mold—but left a lasting imprint on rock history. The series rolls out globally on Netflix in 2026.
