Obvious interest’… Celtic do want to sign £8.5m attacker in January now
Celtic’s need to add quality in the January window has been made all too apparent after Brendan Rodgers’ side suffered their second defeat of the season on Saturday.
The 2-0 loss to Hearts means that if Rangers win their two games in hand, the Ibrox club go top of the Scottish Premiership.
And it seems that Celtic could be about to do just that with a move for Swedish attacker, Mathias Kvistgaarden.
Valued at £8.5m, the 21-year-old forward has been on Celtic’s radar for some time now and journalist, Dean Jones, believes that Celtic will make a move for him,
Jones said [GiveMeSport], “We know Rodgers wants them to show more ambition and to push the boat out to test the limits of how far he can take this team.
“£8.5m sounds a bit punchy, especially considering the prices being touted last time they were interested in him.
“So, I understand people having reservations about believing they could do this. But there is an obvious interest here.”
Kvistgaarden is still a young boy and whilst his goalscoring feats are nothing to shout about this season, he is no stranger to hitting the back of the net.

The youngster scored seven times in 21 appearances for Brondby this season but he has also created seven.
The season prior to this he found the back of the net ten times in 37 and created just four. However, his best goalscoring season was during 2021/22 when he netted 15 times and created eight in 35 outings for the Swedish club. [Transfermarkt]
This player again screams to me ‘project signing’. I don’t believe at his age and with his lack of experience in Europe (he’s never played group stage football) that this is a player who is going to take Celtic forward in the way the fans want.
