Everton are dealt a double suspension for the crucial Burnley encounter, as Sean Dyche raises injury concerns.
Everton have been slapped with two suspensions ahead of their important relegation clash against Burnley next weekend.
Sean Dyche’s side made it three wins in a row with a 2-0 triumph over Chelsea on Sunday, but it came at a cost.
Both Jarrad Branthwaite and Idrissa Gueye received their fifth bookings of the season, resulting in a one-match ban.
Both are expected to be absent at Turf Moor next week, but the Toffees may also have some injury problems.
Ashley Young, another first-team regular, was taken off soon before halftime against Chelsea after pulling up injured.
Dyche stated after the game that the 38-year-old had a “niggly injury which we are hoping is not serious,” a remark echoed by the player on X, previously Twitter, who stated after the game that his ailment was “hopefully not serious.”
Seamus Coleman, who had just recently returned from a long-term knee injury in Thursday’s triumph over Newcastle United, was also missing at Goodison Park.
“Hopefully [Seamus’ injury] is not too serious,” he remarked.
“I’d expect it to be touch and go for the next week or so – we’ll have to wait and see.”
“He was on the treadmill the day after Newcastle and we had to drag him off and remind him he’s got a minor injury that needs settling down.”
Former Claret Michael Keane was also absent from Everton’s squad against Chelsea, and his absence was not explained.
Burnley are five points behind Everton, who are now in 17th place.
